Mistakes Like Love and Sex By Madhuri Banerjee
Madhuri Banerjee ï 3 read & download
Its a book for the modern generation - the central character is a woman in her mid thirties, smokes, drinks, jumps from one relationship to the other, is not ready for marriage, yet she appears like the girl next door! Its a good read at the end of the day.
Mistakes Like Love and Sex Not as good as her first book. Losing my virginity and other dumb ideas was pithy and clever. Mistakes like...is more cliched and the main protagonist comes across as immature and fickle in some parts. Still will wait for the last book in the trilogy. Mistakes Like Love and Sex A good afternoon coffee time read. Too predictable and cliched but that's expected out of a chicklit. I am slowly running out of patience for this genre. I hope Madhuri Bannerjee comes up with something more refreshing in her third book. Looking forward to read her more. See! Thats the magic of her writing. I dont think I said much good about her characters. But I want to see where Kaveri goes finally. But Please Madhuri, let Kaveri not jump into beds so easily! :)

It talks about the new age definition of love, relationships and sex which most of the generation today can easily relate to. What is interesting is her diversity in relationships and her perspectives on the same once they ended. Being involved with a married man, then getting involved with a Spanish guy younger than her, then a rich guy 12 years older than her, making out with a movie star! Incredible range of relationship diversity! Personally, the only disappointing factor was finally ending up in an 'expected' cliched arranged marriage. However, the Twitter love angle was again an interesting take on the same. Does prove the fairy tale line 'One has to kiss a lot of frogs to find one's prince'.
Mistakes Like Love and Sex I have been following Madhuri's books and have read it all. I must say after #ForbiddenDesires, this one is the best one to read. She is just awesome with her writing. You can actually feel the expressions and she has quoted some very good statements which could make you re-think how you are trying work out some or other things in your life. #Awesome read and Best of Luck to her for upcoming novels. Mistakes Like Love and Sex
Cheated by her young and handsome Spanish boyfriend, Kaveri is back in India to follow a career as an artist and to find her dream man. However, getting involved with an older man,
making out with the hottest star in Bollywood, teaching a hot, upcoming actress Hindi . . . her goals seem nowhere in sight.
Starting afresh seems to have thrown her off completely and she begins to see the superficial life that she’s been leading. It’s time to take some hard decisions. With fresh hope and a new philosophy, Kaveri begins to focus on her goals.
Things begin to look up when there is a kindling of romance across Twitter and she’s starts to understand her true calling. She might finally be moving in the right direction! Mistakes Like Love and Sex
Despite the steamy name, this book is filled with life lessons woven into a realistic love story of a brave young Indian woman. It's written in first-person POV and blends dialogues and events along with the protagonist's inner monologue which gives the reader a very intimate insight into the mind of the protagonist. I loved her writing style, especially the blending of inner monologue with the main narrative.
Coming to the plot:
This is the story of Kaveri, a spunky middle-aged Indian woman who knows seven languages, has studied art, is an art teacher, and is in a relationship with a younger Italian man. They live together in Barcelona where she also teaches art.
The story begins with a breakup between Kaveri and her boyfriend. Kaveri, heartbroken, decides to go back to India, the country of her birth and the place where she can be closer to her parents and her best-friend Aditi.
Kaveri has always had a void in her heart that she feels can be filled only through relationships with men. Hence she is always longing for a man to be part of her life.
Once in India, she deals with challenges at work, broken relationships, a steamy episode with a Bollywood heartthrob, and a mother who, above all, wants her to get married to a decent boy.
All these challenges along with advice from friends and bold decisions help Kaveri mature as a person and stand on her own feet.
I gave it 4 stars (instead of 5) because Kaveri's growth as someone who is able to fill the void in her heart through her own independence (without a man) was not sufficiently developed even though it was very central to the story. There were also moments, where the self-help (preachy dialogues or monologue) got a bit too much. A little brevity in the preachy parts would have made it a better read, IMO.
But overall, I loved reading this book and I enjoy this style where personal growth is blended so well with a great story. Mistakes Like Love and Sex As one blogger said, this book is a good afternoon coffee time read. More On Mistakes Like Love and Sex Cosmopolitan says that a new Carrie Bradshaw has arrived and this made me to look at the book with a new perspective. In the first book, Kaveri was a lot similar to Charlotte and Miranda; she believed in true love and was ready to wait for him and was well educated and very confident and could give men a tough competition.
After her break up with Arjun she became a lot like Samantha and had no qualms with having sex with men at all sorts of places.
But now in this book, she is hundred percent Carrie, she is super-bitchy, selfish, self-centered and judging her friends all the time and think only about herself.
I did not like this Kaveri at all. Though I myself suggested that we shouldn’t read the book if we are too judgmental, I couldn’t help myself from being judgmental this time. May be that’s the reason I did not enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed “Losing my Virginity and Other Dumb Ideas”.
The book is as well written as its prequel and explores the life of middle aged women who struggles to make their place in the male dominant society and live their lives on their own terms and no one else. Mistakes Like Love and Sex Awesome book by Madhuri Banerjee! The bong girl has again cracked it! Awesome.... Mistakes Like Love and Sex Kaveri is an amazing and a very strong character.
she is courageous, wants to live life on her own terms, has loads of relationships, is very mature and wants so much more from her life than just being a wife to some successful businessman.
filled with loads of sex and philosophy, a nice read.
